There's a first for everything. Usually my 'firsts' are terrible - just ask the boy I first kissed, the person who interviewed me for my first job, or my dad whose car I wrecked for the first time.

But, sometimes 'firsts' can be amazing. After all the years I've been thrifting, I finally thrifted a piece of clothing from Anthropologie. I can't even afford to park outside of that store, so when I found this skirt (new with tags!!) I panicked, stopped breathing for a second, and then did an awkward tiny fist pump. Which is exactly how my first kiss went down.

I loved that pink tutu. I'd get home from school, eat a hot pocket and corn nuts (only healthy snacks at our house!), and then put it on and twirl around until dinner. Basically, my childhood can be summed up as a series of fake ballet moves to fill the time between meals.

My parents once dared my older brother to put the tutu on, and now we have an awesome photo of him prancing around in it (that we of course bring out for every new girlfriend). Thankfully my brother and I both outgrew the tutu, and I realized that the ballerina life wasn't for me. I'm more of a hot pocket/pencil skirt kinda gal.

The Eyes Have It

IMG_1112

I wear waterproof mascara every day - what can I say, I'm an emotional person. If I see a newborn baby, I well up. If someone sends me a handmade card, the tears start before I even open the envelope. If I see a commercial for the SPCA, I drop to the floor bawling.

I've been using makeup remover wipes, but they take a lot of scrubbing to even come close to removing all of my mascara. I decided to make my own eye makeup remover, and this version is natural, cheap and effective. One swipe and my eyes feel clean!

1. Pour coconut oil into container of your choice.
2. Pour baby shampoo in (any gentle cleanser/mild soap will work).
3. Fill the remainder of the container with water and shake well.
